Back in the late 1960's, my first camera was an early Nikon F. Since then, I have used a wide variety of cameras - but for 30 years most of them were Nikons. Here are some of the camera systems I used over the years - starting with Nikon F2s & F3s in the 1980's & 90's. I skipped the F4 and belatedly began the transition to Auto Focus in the mid 90's with the F5. In the late 90's, I went Digital with the 6MP Kodak DCS 460 followed by the first Nikon D1 in 2000. In rapid succession, these were replaced by Nikon's D1H, D1X, D2H & D2X models. In the early 2000's I began a switch to predominantly using Canon equipment - buying a Canon EOS 1V, Canon 1D and the 11MP 1DS - a full-frame body that was not available from Nikon at that time. The decision was cemented by Canon's excellent range of Tilt-Shift lenses. The legacy Medium Format Hasselblads and Mamiyas were used less & less after we went Digital - although the Mamiya 645AFD saw extended use because it could also be used with a range of rented Digital Backs. When I retired 14 years ago I sold all of my long Telephotos and newer Camera bodies while they were still worth a significant sum - but retained some equipment that had sentimental value.
